[Lahore, April 3, 2021] Dot Republic Media in collaboration with Digital Durian is thrilled to present an educational and musical animated series for kids in Urdu titled ‘Omar and Hana’, an infotainment Malaysian based production by Fadilah A. Rahmanna and directed by Ainina, airing real soon in Pakistan on the YouTube channel as ‘Omar and Hana Urdu’. These set of videos are informational based regarding the morals and teachings of Islamic Religion for the kids to learn in a fun and exciting way.

We conducted a survey among moms digitally to find out 82% were struggling to find culturally relevant content for their children. They confessed that the international content impacts the dialect and language of their young ones, who are very vulnerable at this stage to what kind of content they consume. They accept that YouTube is now an important part of the kids learning at an early stage, however everything they see is not fulfilling in terms of our region’s values and Islamic teachings.

Omar & Hana are happy, curious, and loving siblings. They entice friends all over the globe into their amazing and wondrous world. Join them as they learn Islamic, moral and family values through magical adventures and fun experiences with their parents, teachers, friends, neighbours and sometimes, famous Muslim personalities from all around the world!

Omar & Hana songs, series, apps and merchandise are a favourite among Muslim parents worldwide, to instill spiritual and character development in their young ones.

First premiered on YouTube in 2017, Omar & Hana is currently the fastest growing Islamic based IP and has accumulated more than 4.4 million subscribers and 1.8 billion views and counting…

‘Omar & Hana’ follows the journey of Omar, Hana, their family and friends as the play, learn and teach Islamic ethics and moral values through songs and adventures. The mixture of moral ethics with the mention of relating Islamic hadiths and ayahs in a small episodes gives this series a unique style from which the children would love to sing along while learning about the good deeds in the light of Islam. Another excellent feature of the cartoons is the way in which each of their cartoons end with either a verse of the Qur’an or a Hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) related to the topic of the episode / song. This helps to reinforce the message and teaching of each cartoon but also relates it directly back to the Qur’an and Sunnah.

We hope that with this initiative, we are able to move towards healthy learning for our kids in a language they easily understand and connect to (i.e. Urdu), and with #Ramzan coming up, this is the perfect time to start a conversation about Islam with kids and benefit from the blessings of this holy month.
